What "The Jabberwock Bed & Breakfast" clients says
The room that we had, had a fantastic view. Breakfast was very good. It was quite tasty. The grounds were very well kept and fairly good size. The owners are very hospitable and shared the history of the Inn.
The location is great. It is a very short walk to Cannery Row, although somewhat hilly. They offer very comprehensive advice for places to eat, as well as things to do locally. The breakfast was restaurant quality, and the hospitality hour refreshments were excellent. And they also had cookies all day. The brandy in the room was an unexpected touch.
Perfect location, a short walk to shopping on Cannery Row and many restaurants and cafe's but off the beaten path. the property and the house are beautiful Everything is old but charming. Service was superb with a welcoming text prior to our visit and a tour as soon as we arrived. The wife of the owner couple helps everyone feel at home (we saw her the afternoon/evening and the husband in the morning). Wine and cheese hour was nice, one of the guests sat near enough that we could chat so it was enjoyable (guests are encouraged to sit apart from each other, in their own spaces). We didn't want a 2nd glass of wine but if we had, it was available, we had a lovely cabernet but a white was also being served. Our room had a spa tub big enough for the two of us.
The owners met us and they were extremely friendly and helpful. The morning breakfast was superb and individually prepared.
I stayed for a conference since the conference hotel was booked and Im so glad I did. My room had a cozy fireplace and a stunning view of the bay. The whole property is charming, as are the staff. Plenty of nooks to settle into in the public areas, too, though I didnt have time for that. This is a lovely inn, and Ive already rebooked for next year.
What a great place to stay super Qwaint great location the owners were amazing and the food was awesome. Dont pass this one up.
Rick, Suzanne, Dorothy and Ruth were all great. I have never had such a personal feeling experience at anywhere that I have stayed before. Rick and Suzanne knew my name and called me by it every day. Breakfast was excellent from the stuffed french toast to the Phantasmagoria to the wonderful Jabber Juice, everything was perfect. I did not join for the wine and hours dourves but was checked on every evening by Dorothy to see if I was going to join to make sure that there was still time. All in all a great stay and I am looking forward to coming back again in the near future.
Great location nice view easy parking. Soft drinks available. Excellent fireplace heating. Supportive of vegan food requests
We had a wonderful visit to Monterey and loved staying at the Jabberwock. The Inn was great, the people, the food, everything.
Old Victorian house, everything was quaint but beautiful. Based on Alice in Wonderland. Very nice people willing to do anything you asked. Delicious breakfast and appetizers for happy hour.
Very nice room with a fire place. The Maitre D was very friendly
Peaceful gardens and water fountain to just sip tea, read the local paper and relax as a family of deer makes good use of the pond and foliage. Main house views are amazing as well as the Staff (Especially Dorothy)Knowledgeable and very helpful for dining suggestions or travel destinations. Start your day 8-9am, Pick a table for a Wonderfull breakfast, then out for your adventures. 5 min walk to Cannery row and most restaurants. Come back by 5-6pm to enjoy the tasteful selection of wine and appetizers nightly. Another 5 min stroll for Dinner, then back to the property to enjoy the views before retiring to Bed which was very comfortable! Great Couples retreat!!
Quirky and full of fascinating artifacts. public rooms spacious. The hosts were lovely and provided interesting canaps and breakfasts.
All the food was great! Dorothy & Rick were incredibly friendly and accommodating, also the garden around the house was incredible!
the Victorian ambiance of the location!
The breakfast was fantastic
Lovely craftsman style home with period furniture and William Morris style wallpaper along with adorable whimsical touches. early evening hors doeuvres and wine were a lovely way for guests to meet. Breakfast was amazing! Close to Monterey attractions including the Aquarium and Fishermans Wharf. The owners were warm and welcoming, and that was true for all other staff as well. As a solo traveler, I felt totally safe. Would return to The Jabberwock in a heartbeat for my next trip to Monterey.
the couple running it, the view, the food, the very generous extras, the themed decorations, the location, the garden, the personal touch and eye for detail.
We liked everything about this place! We came for just one night to celebrate our 34th anniversary and I wish we had stayed more nights. In an area where hospitality services have to be exceptional because there is so much competition on every block, The Jabberwock really goes over and above in excellence in every way. The owners and their staff, esp. Dorothy, are extremely welcoming, hospitable, and engaging. The facilities are convenient to Monterey, being a couple of streets up from Cannery Row but is not so close that you feel like you're in the hubbub. The house is beautiful and well-kept; our room was beautiful and had a great view of the bay (we stayed in Brillig); the bed was very comfortable; the breakfast was amazing, and the wine and hors-d'oeuvres hour the night we came in was an added bonus. It's a community style arrangement, so chances are good you'll be interacting at least somewhat with other guests, but it wasn't in your face and there are places to be by yourself as well if you don't feel like interacting. We will definitely be back as this is our new favorite place for special occasions, and we will be recommending this to all our friends in San Jose (and those that come from out of state too).
staff was amazing. the breakfast was superb. loved the evening happy hour.
Lovely home, tastefully decorated with vintage antiques and we'll manicured landscape. The morning deer was a nice touch. Late afternoon appetizers and scrumptious breakfast were much appreciated.
Rick, Suzanne and Dorothy couldnt have been more welcoming. Suzannes passion for the inn, its history, maintaining integrity of its mission was so engaging. Ricks easy personality makes everyone feel at home and Dorothy is warm and so capable of making us comfortable and in awe of our yummy breakfasts and wine hour. I cannot wait to return!
close to the center. check in was nice. breakfast was amazing.
well tended and charming
bedroom was small for a man 63 and full privacy for a shower would be our preference.
